Dr. Naiga Dohnji
Dr. Naiga Dohnji, DNP, MSN, FNP, PMHNP-BC, BSN, ASN, is a Board-Certified Family Nurse practitioner and psychiatric nurse practitioner who is qualified and experienced in treating patients with psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. Over the course of twenty-four years of Nursing practice, Ms. Naiga has had the privilege of working in many practice areas, from hospitals, to Nursing Homes, Assisted living and outpatient clinics. She enjoys working with a variety of age groups. Some of her practice specialties include (but not limited to) ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, and Schizophrenia.
Ms. Naiga began her Nursing career in England, after losing a childhood friend from Mental illness which sparked up her passion to become a Mental health provider. My best friend suffered from a brief psychotic episode. She would have been alive today if we had the knowledge of mental illness. She was hallucinating, paranoid. The treatment at the time was sedation, praying and herbal remedies. This alone did not solve the symptoms. I lost a very dear sister and friend. I dedicated my zeal of becoming a better mental health professional to My best Friend. (Belinda).
She then decided to continue her education and received her first Diploma in Nursing in 1998 in England. She also decided to spend her time helping underprivileged people with their mental and emotional problems, she realized this was her passion.
Dr. Naiga received her Doctorate degree in 2020, a Master of Science in 2011; a Post master in 2018; a bachelor’s degree in 2008; and an Associate Degree in 2000
Dr. Naiga is passionate about providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health services as she possesses a strong clinical skill enhanced by natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. She follows evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition. Dr. Naiga’s role is multifaceted, including educator, mental health advocate, therapist, and scientist.
With her Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice, Dr. Naiga Dohnji DNP values interdisciplinary clinical practice and inter-professional collaboration for a whole person, patient centered approach to health and healthcare. Dr. Naiga is always advocating for innovations in healthcare and has special interests in the integration of behavioral medicine, and suicide prevention.
Dr.Naiga Dohnji DNP brings to clinic a humanistic philosophy of holistic care for both mind and body, and an abiding commitment to individualized, personalized, comprehensive care for her patients. She believes in the mind/body/spiritual connection, and we are made up as a whole person and not a series of parts. Dr. Naiga's style of practice can be traditional (prescribing up to date psychiatric medications.
Naiga's hobbies include shopping, cooking, listening to Gospel music, traveling. “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shake together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:32)
